In 1978 she started JoAnne’s Retouching Service and specialized in negative and print retouching, hand oiling, competition artwork and copy\restoration.  JoAnne was a member of Professional Photographers of America, The American Photographic Artisans Guild, Professional Photographers of Iowa, and Northeast Iowa Professional Photographers.  As a member of Professional Photographers of America she served as the Art Tech Chairperson and earned her “Master Artist”, “Craftsman” and “Certified Professional Photographic Specialist Degrees” and was awarded “Negative Retoucher of the Year” in 1991 and in 1993.  She has also been a featured speaker and has put on programs at the national, regional and state levels. She has also been recognized as one of the “Top 10 Photographers in Iowa” five times, in 2006 and 2008 – 2011. She was also an adjunct instructor at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo Iowa teaching Intermediate and Advanced Electronic Imaging and Print Presentation. 

In 1994 JoAnne and Ed were married and the evolution to digital began.  Ed came from a sales and marketing background and had extensive computer experience.  In 1999 as photography was transitioning in to digital, we became JRS Photo Scanning and Restoration and started evolving into the new digital technology.  We are now a complete Digital Photographic Art, Scanning and Restoration Studio and offer a wide range of products and services. We specialize in scanning and restoring all types of Photographs, Slides, Negatives, Documents, Albums, Scrapbooks and more.  We also convert old VHS tapes and 8mm\16mm movie film to digital files.
